Wedding season is starting to hit and I’m excited to say I have a few coming up. I find them to be utterly romantic. It’s that special moment where two people declare their love for each other in front of their friends and family. I always find it an honor to be invited to share in those special occassions.
It’s also an opportunity to find a fun dress! Summer clothing lines are starting to come out and I’m on the hunt for a couple of winners. Since it’s full day event in most cases, it’s important to find a dress that breaths throughout the day. I love silk as much as the next girl but in the hot summer heat, you are not going to be able to last until the dancing starts. My requirements are something with a bit of a full skirt, cotton or spandex type of material and a fun pattern or interesting shape. This dress is one I would wear in a heartbeat. It’s fun, light and can go all night!
There’s something about a hat that can liven up an outfit. It makes a simple top and bottom pop with a flash of color. Plus it’s practical all year round!
I love wearing hats in the winter but struggle for ideas in the spring. Luckily, as the stores transition from winter to spring there is a ton of great inspiration out there. I’ve keeping an eye out for ideas in which ones to add to my wardrobe. The winter sales also give you a chance to snag a fun winter one to wear for the next couple weeks.
Fall weather is always confusing. Boston has been a yo-yo from hot to cold. This weekend has felt like the summer was back again. I have friends who even got sunburns at the beach! Most have started the transition from summer to winter clothes in their wardrobe and it’s tough with you hit that in between.
I use these warm days as the perfect excuse to bring out longer skirts with light tops to blend the two seasons. The changing weather makes this skirt easy to pair with a lightweight three-quarters shirt for now and change to a fun turtle neck in the winter!
Fall fashion means bold colors and popped colors in my world. Pairing shorts with a button down or longer top in the fall helps to extend the life of your shorts. These shorts are perfect for a fall day with their bold color and scalloped edges. A heavier button down or sweater would help this outfit last all day from the morning to the cooler night. It’s also an outfit that can seamlessly transition from day to night if you are going from a brunch to dinner during the weekend.
Today was the first day I wore a true “fall” outfit. Boston had a bite to the air and I need to cover up a little more. I mixed in some darker colors and heavier fabrics. While I love that first fall outfit I’m still holding out on packing away my shorts as long as possible. There’s something about shorts and a tank top that I can’t help but love anytime of the year. The thought of endless summer is what inspired this outfit.
Wear a dress with a big bold flower pattern? Yes, please!
Go big, go bold and try fun patterns! There’s nothing wrong with mixing up a normally monochromatic or solid colored wardrobe with a loud dress. I’m in love with the big graphic flowers peppering this dress. Yellow and pink bring to mind a preppy party. This would be perfect for any occasion from a quick drink with friends to a family dinner.
The end of the summer is the perfect time to mix up your wardrobe. Take advantage of the last few days by mixing and matching pieces in bright colors you wouldn’t normally pair. Bringing together bright colors will draw attention to your (hopefully) fabulous tan.
One way to add a fresh touch is to change up the statement jewelry. This outfit brings in bright turquoise to help the pink pop. These colors play off each other beautifully making this dress bright, sassy and summery.
Summer has been a blast. I have loved the warmth, activities and going on a ton of trips. I would be happy if this season could last forever! This girl epitomizes that feeling of casually embracing the beautiful weather with her cheery yellow top and white pants.
Summer is the time to embrace light materials with loose flowing garments from shirts to dresses. A great way to add shape to a light, airy dress is by adding in a belt. The width of the belt can help to bring a defined waist to the garment. A simple belt, as seen above, can add a light touch to an outfit. You can also spice up an outfit by choosing a belt with beading, a neon color or a fun pattern. Just be careful the dress doesn’t shift up too much when you add the belt!
Shorts are out in full force. They are the colors of the rainbow with every design and pattern in between. Adding in a fun patterned short can make an outfit bump up from every day to something special. This illustration hits the combination of everyday casual and easy to dress up. I can see her spending her day with the cardigan on then slip it off and add a chunky necklace for a more formal nighttime look.
