Fall weather is always confusing. Boston has been a yo-yo from hot to cold. This weekend has felt like the summer was back again. I have friends who even got sunburns at the beach! Most have started the transition from summer to winter clothes in their wardrobe and it’s tough with you hit that in between.
I use these warm days as the perfect excuse to bring out longer skirts with light tops to blend the two seasons. The changing weather makes this skirt easy to pair with a lightweight three-quarters shirt for now and change to a fun turtle neck in the winter!
If you were to visit my apartment you would find a sea of nautical items. Growing up near the beach, it’s close to my heart. I don’t think I could ever go too far from water. There’s something about the smell and relaxing feeling I get by being near it that I could never give it up.
I incorporate a nautical theme into my wardrobe by picking items that are brightly colored with sea creatures or plants. This dress brings out the bright colored coral that dots the ocean floor. I paired it with a bright green to imitate the ocean and make the deep reds stronger.
Yellow is one of my favorite colors because of its cheery connotations and eye catching color. In college I had yellow sheets and towels that I loved. Unfortunately, yellow does not love me back. It washes me out and makes my pale skin beg to be taken to the beach for a tan. In stores I’ll try on a yellow dress or shirt only to sadly put it back on the rack.
This girl I painted can pull off yellow. She is wearing a simple dress that stands out without needing to be over accessorized. She even has yellow peeping from her shoes. This is an outfit I would love to wear, if only I could pull it off!
One of my favorite clothing combinations is a slouchy sweater or sweat shirt with shorts. It brings to mind beach days where you need to cover up when the wind picks up at night. This outfit would be perfect for dinner on the beach or a bonfire with friends.
I’m taking a break from the cold and planning a trip down to Florida. I cannot wait to wear dresses without tights and slip on some flip flops!
While planning for my trip I’ve been looking at different bathing suits. Luckily stores are changing over fashion lines so there are lots of options. I normally wear a bikini but lately one piece suits have been catching my eye. They are very flattering and if you find the right cut you still get the same tan lines as a bikini. I think I’ll have to pick one up.
